I have always been fascinated by nature. The natural world as both a microcosm and macrocosm is the foundation of my work. I work from life; my subjects are visible objects from the “real” world. These subjects I simplify or elaborate according to visual and conceptual criteria, abstracting to create a form accessible to the viewer.
As an artist I prefer to work in a variety of media. I find that the limitations and advantages of each medium act as stimulus to my imagination. A material or technique may demand that I respect its unique characteristics, or it may challenge me to present an uncharacteristic form or surface and make it seem logical and necessary.
